Characteristics: The Winter Scepter nozzle can be attached to a Vertical Display Aerator in the fall. It must be operated continuously throughout the winter during freezing weather. If it is shut off and the water inside the upper tube and head freezes, it may not be possible to re-establish fl ow and ice damage could occur.

The Winter Scepter’s operation in freezing weather maintains some area of the pond free from ice for wildlife, fish, or for dock or pier de-icing.

Small or shallow ponds in cold climates cannot be kept open by this technique. The pond should be a minimum of 6 feet deep to allow for warmer bottom water to be brought up to the surface.

Operation may compromise the thickness and stability of the ice that develops around the perimeter of the open water and could create a safety hazard.
